FAQ

80G, Form 10BE and NGO donations — explained.

What is an 80G certificate?

Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 lets donors claim a deduction (typically 50%) on donations made to registered non-profits like Educa Foundation. An 80G certificate (now issued as Form 10BE) is the official receipt you attach with your ITR to claim that deduction.

How much tax do I save when I donate to Educa Foundation?

Educa Foundation is registered under Section 80G(5)(iv), so 50% of your donation is deductible from your taxable income, subject to the qualifying-limit rules (10% of adjusted gross total income). On a ₹10,000 donation in the 30% slab, that is up to ₹1,500 in tax saved.

How do I get my 80G tax receipt?

The moment your donation clears, you receive an emailed receipt with our 80G registration number, PAN and Unique Registration Number (URN). By 31 May of the following financial year, we also issue Form 10BE — the CBDT-mandated certificate you attach with your ITR.

Can NRIs and foreign donors claim 80G?

80G deduction is available only against income taxable in India. NRIs with Indian taxable income can claim it. Foreign donors without Indian taxable income cannot claim 80G but can donate via our FCRA-registered account and receive a foreign-contribution receipt.

Do UPI, credit-card and recurring donations qualify for 80G?

Yes. Any donation above ₹2,000 must be made in a mode other than cash (UPI, netbanking, card, cheque) to qualify for 80G — every one of our online payment options meets this rule. Cash donations up to ₹2,000 also qualify.

What details do I need to file 80G in my ITR?

Name of donee (Educa Foundation), PAN, 80G registration number and Unique Registration Number, address, amount donated, and mode of payment. All of these appear on your emailed receipt and on Form 10BE.

Are monthly recurring donations eligible for 80G every year?

Yes. Each financial year's cumulative donations receive a consolidated Form 10BE the following May, which you attach with that year's ITR.
